That’s why we started a journey that took us across the globe. It all began with visits to Vietnam, Mexico, Peru, Ecuador, Europe, really, just about every corner of the world.
Visit to Vietnam
Our very first journey was to Vietnam. We heard the Vietnamese workers made great-quality shoes. So, we flew halfway across the world to explore factories that might be able to give us what we were looking for.
But when we got there, the quality wasn’t exactly what we had in mind. Still, the visit taught us a lot. Even though it didn’t work out, we learned things about shoes that helped us move forward and guide our way.

Visit to León, Guanajuato, México
Leather is a very important segment of our shoe-making process. We were planning to bring the most premium leather boots for our people, so we wanted to learn how quality leather is actually made.
León, Guanajuato, Mexico, is famous for its leather goods.
So, we decided to visit León, the leather capital, to see the quality with our own eyes. We got a close look at the factories, met the teams, checked out the materials, and watched the entire process.
After learning everything, we finally set the standard for the materials we use at Henry Dacosta.

During our visit in Mexico, we had an amazing opportunity to visit a local shoe factory in León.
Visit to Peru
To compare the leather in Mexico, we once visited the tanneries in El Porvenir, Trujillo. It felt like a kingdom of shoe manufacturers and a city built on leather.
We had heard a lot about the quality, but we also wanted to see how they mix tradition with sustainability when crafting leather for boots. Because when you're creating something as timeless and durable as boots, every detail matters, starting with the leather.
We didn’t want to rely on reputation alone.
We had to see the process ourselves. Walking through the workshops, we watched the people turn raw hides into high-quality leather..

The Creation of Our First Shoe Sample
We decided to create the very first samples of Henry Dacosta in Peru.
We worked with skilled people to bring every detail to life. This was where it all began. We turned our vision into something real and started to set the standard for the quality we wanted for Henry Dacosta.
